Kanwar Yatra (Social media)
National News: During the holy month of Sawan, when millions of Shiv devotees carry sacred water from Haridwar, an emotional and inspiring moment took place in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. A police officer on duty became a real-life hero after saving the life of a Kanwar Yatri who suddenly collapsed due to health issues.
The incident happened late on Sunday night at Maharana Pratap Singh Chowk in the Civil Lines area. Netrapal, a resident of Milak Dhaneri village in Rampur district, was returning from Haridwar with a group of fellow devotees. They were carrying the Kanwar, a sacred ritual where devotees walk back with holy Ganga water to offer to Lord Shiva.
As they reached the chowk, Netrapal suddenly fainted and collapsed on the road. The rain was pouring heavily, and the atmosphere was tense. His companions were shocked and didn’t know what to do.
At that moment, Head Constable Rajendra Gungwar, who was stationed nearby to manage the Kanwar Yatra crowd, saw the man fall. Without waiting for help, he ran toward Netrapal and began giving him CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). This emergency technique is used to help someone who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating.
While Gungwar continued to give CPR with full focus, his fellow police officers quickly called for an ambulance. The coordination between the officers ensured that help arrived without delay.
After several minutes of CPR, Netrapal slowly began to respond. He was immediately taken by ambulance to a private hospital in Rampur. According to doctors, his condition is now stable, and he is expected to recover fully.
The constable’s actions won the hearts of many. People praised Rajendra Gungwar for his brave and quick response. His act of kindness showed that police officers are not just law enforcers but also protectors of life.
District officials are now considering giving him a special award for his courage and humanity.
In the spiritually charged atmosphere of Sawan, where people walk for days to show their devotion to Lord Shiva, this one moment reminded everyone that humanity still lives strong. A single decision by one man, to act quickly and selflessly, saved a life.
This incident also sends a strong message—whether you are a devotee walking with faith or an officer standing on duty—when compassion and duty meet, miracles happen.
